The closet is the foundation of your wardrobe. It’s where you go to get dressed. You can’t get dressed out of a mess. I am going to give you all my top closet tips to get you ready for the new season. The fall is coming, and I want you to make sure your closet is ready so you can get dressed and be your best self.
My first tip in the closet, of course, outside of cleaning, organizing, and purging, is color coordinate and season coordinate. It’s really important that you separate your wardrobe, that way you don’t have to deal with the whole closet at one time, but you deal with it per season. I like to organize closets according to spring, summer, fall, and winter.
That way you only focus on one half of your closet half the year, the other half for the second half. Another essential closet tip is the dry clean method. The dry clean method is a way for you to wear everything that you own. If you’re not wearing it, resell it, donate it, or throw it away, but make sure you purge it from your closet. You can focus on the spring-summer side of your closet first.
When you finish wearing something, instead of putting the things back into the rack, you want to put things that you’ve already worn to the back. After I wear something, then I hang it up, I put it on the back of the rack, and I do that every time I wear something. That’s the beauty of the dry clean method. It forces you to wear everything that you own. If you can’t figure out how to wear or style it, you should get rid of it or figure out how to style it. That way you can be certain that you’re wearing all the pieces in your wardrobe.
Statistics show that people only wear 20% of their wardrobe because they’re wearing the same 5 to 15 outfits over and over. They’re not wearing the other 80%. The best way to wear everything in your wardrobe is the dry clean method. Wear an outfit and move on to the next. The dry clean method should be implemented with every section of your closet. Ready to tackle your closet clutter? Whether you’re looking to redesign your closet on a budget or building a new walk-in wardrobe, let these closet organization tips help optimize every square inch you have available.

Are you one of those amazingly talented women who is perfect on paper but overwhelmed with stress, loneliness, and everyday responsibilities?
If so, you are not alone.
Like many of you, I am an entrepreneur and a high achiever.
I’m an Attorney, Magazine Publisher, Host, and CEO of a Matchmaking Agency.
I am also a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Friend, and more…
We do it all while wearing our “Superwoman Capes” with pride. However, I am here to tell you that it is time to “Burn the Cape!” As beautiful as they are, our capes are not a badge of honor – they’re a burden.
Listen, my cape was beautiful! It flowed and everything, but it was also heavy. Then, it started to drag me down and I couldn’t breathe.
A single mother at 25 years old, finishing law school, starting my own law firm, being in a decade long toxic relationship, hair coming out, sleepless nights, being cheated on, attending all of my daughter’s practices, games, recitals - you know the drill.
I couldn’t breathe.
As an attorney who represented mental health patients for 10 years, I knew I was headed towards a breakdown. That led me to having to make some tough choices.
When you make changes in your life, you will undoubtedly experience times of guilt and you will be tempted to put the cape back on when things don’t happen when and/or how you want them. Resist the temptation.
With self-care and mental health & wellness at the forefront of many conversations these days, creating and maintaining a “work-life balance” is the key to a happy, healthy life.
Why? Because finding a balance allows you to be more productive professionally, whether you’re an entrepreneur, coach, author, corporate executive, speaker, employee, or a combination of those things. Additionally, it allows you to be more present and connected to the things that matter most, including yourself.
You already know that people will wear you out if you let them.
Now, I am by no means saying not to work hard or help people. In fact, you should, but not to the point where it negatively affects you mentally, emotionally, or physically.
It’s important to remember that creating a work life balance is a lifestyle change for many of us. You must create new, healthy habits and stick to them. There will be times when your stress level will be high but incorporating specific strategies to reduce it quickly is the goal.
When you’re ready to live a healthy work life balance so you can continue to pursue your passions while protecting your peace, here are 6 general strategies to get you there:
1. Schedule Weekly “Quiet Time” - At least once a week, schedule down time for yourself to do nothing - be stimulation free (ex. rest, read, sitting outside, drink a cup of tea.)
2. Eliminate Toxic People & Relationships - Remove or distance yourself from individuals who cause additional stress in your life and rarely relieve it. It could be a romantic partner, friend, family member, co-worker, etc.
3. Cell Phone Break - Most people are prisoners of their phones (i.e., “cell phones.”) Take a break from it for at least 2 hours while awake. No texting, emails, social media, taking pictures, working, etc. (ex. 6pm - 8pm). Continue whatever you’re doing, but without the phone.
4. Therapy/Counseling - Therapy & Counseling are not just for when things are going bad. It’s for emotional maintenance. Schedule a session at least quarterly during normal times, more during stressful times.
5. Consider Quiet Quitting - Perform your job duties to the best of your ability and efficiently, but limit going above and beyond ALL the time, working overtime or volunteering.
6. Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities - Engage in an activity that you enjoy doing that involves other people (ex. sport, book club, coloring, sewing, Meetup.com) at least monthly.
